Puzzle Box
December 5, 2007 – 9:14 amHere is my first woodworking project using something other than plywood. I’ve made several plywood boxes for tools and stuff, just trying to get a feel for the tablesaw. Decided to make a “real” box using some red oak. This was kind of a challenge for me in that it has finger joints with a mitered top edge and a “floating” panel for the top. It was hard to get really tight fitting joints, especially the mitered corners. I messed up the top (carelessness in measuring) and it stuck up too high. I made it flush by using a low angle block plane. That was the first time I had ever used one of those. Pretty cool. The box is used to hold a wooden puzzle.
