Shop Upgrade #1
December 5, 2007 – 7:13 pm
OK, I know this may not seem like an upgrade to most, but let me explain what is going on.
My wife and I have kind of adopted two cats. My wife is allergic to these two cats so they stay in the garage. Well, I’m not real fond of litter boxes so I think that the cats should be able to come and go as they please. You know, to do their doody and whatever else cats do. In order to do that, I have to leave my garage door cracked open because the back door to the garage looks like it belongs in an abandoned building and will not hold one of those cat door thingies.

The problem with leaving the garage door cracked all the time is that I get major amounts of moisture in the shop which as you can imagine causes any cast iron topped tool to rust. Not to mention all of the dirt, leaves and critters that gets blown in.
Well after four hours, I finally have the new door installed. I thought it was going to be a simple job. WRONG, I think my walls were built with a trapezoid instead of a square. I tried to follow the instructions that came with the door but I had to start improvising. Anyway, it is installed. All I have to do now is install the cat door and train the cats to use it. That sounds like fun. Might have to video that one.

I will install the trim on the inside after I complete another shop upgrade. Insulation and drywall.

Hello…

Hmm…the other option would be to make the cat door at the top of the regular door and rig a catapult say 20 feet or so away….
Just kidding. Very pretty cat by the way and I’m not much of a cat person. I would think cats and woodshops would be troublesome as they are usually so fastidious about a layer of dust on their fur.
