Still No Wood
February 2, 2008 – 5:57 amI misjudged how long it is going to take me to get my bike back together. Not that it is hard but trying to find the time to do so. (Lazy?) In all honesty, it doesn’t look like I will be doing much woodworking in the near future as I am going to put much effort into setting up shop. How fast that goes depends on the fundage in the bank. In order to have more funds, I have to spend more time at work. It will happen though. Be sure of that.
So, if anybody is interested in the progress of my shop, keep checking in.
Here is a breakdown of what I would like to do:
Get the bike together and out of the way.
Install a sub panel for electricity and wire in 220V outlets.
Install insulation and drywall.
Paint.
Scrape the “popcorn” texture off of the ceiling. (Why the previous owner installed this, I have no idea)
Install high output fluorescent lighting
Insulate the garage door or replace door with an insulated door.
Install air conditioning.
Paint floor (maybe)
Then I can start making a workbench, building cabinets, assembly table and stuff like that.
I was going to wait until the above items were finished before buying any more tools. I figured the less that I have to move things out of the way the better. But… I came across a pretty good deal at Woodcraft the other day. They had the bandsaw that I was looking at on sale. The Powermatic Model PWBS-14CS, with riser block kit and the mobile base for $899. In addition to that, they were taking 10% off on all power tools which brought the price down to $809. That is a pretty sweet deal in my book.
So I have one more thing to push around while I set up my shop. (poor me, right?)
